This branch of our charity is near and dear to our heart. Over the last several years, we have partnered with people from other countries to serve our local community. Over time, many of the relationships between teams and locals have grown stronger and, as a result, locals’ lives have been impacted.
Each team pays their way to Northern Ireland and, upon arrival, receives all necessary accommodations – meals, housing, transportation services, etc. Every time a team comes, the schedule looks a little different due to varying service opportunities and the unique gifts and passions of each team.
Teams have served at Elite Archery, invested in people through the ANVIL Project and the Rock Community Project, and rested at Eagle Creek. They have also served through other opportunities such as vacation bible schools, after-school programs, and school morning assemblies. Additionally, teams play a part in empowering local community groups to continue the work they already do.
While teams work very hard as they serve in these various capacities, they also have the opportunity to sightsee on their trip. We like to treat our teams by visiting some of the classic sights of Northern Ireland such as Giants Causeway, Carrick-A-Reed Rope Bridge, the Mourne Mountains, Downpatrick Cathedral, and the Titanic Museum. In addition, we occasionally venture to the C.S. Lewis Center, Portstewart, Saul Church (the first place Saint Patrick shared the Gospel), and various nearby castles. Sightseeing gives teams a chance to rest and gain a deeper understanding of the culture of Northern Ireland.
We currently host teams from all over the world:
- Wilmore, Kentucky àAsbury University
- Williamsburg, Kentucky àUniversity of the Cumberlands
- Lexington, Kentucky
- Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Fort Worth, Texas
- Hobbs, New Mexico
- Andernach, Germany
